The short version
No ads. We don't sell your data. We don't track you across other apps or websites. Your lists stay on your device unless you sign in to sync them, and you can download or delete your data at any time.
What stays on your device
Without an account, your Want to go, Been and Following lists, recent searches, notification choices and your last location for "Near me" are stored only on your phone or in your browser.
What we keep if you sign in
Your email address and your lists (Want to go, Been, Following), with any visit notes and verdicts, so they sync between the website and the app. They're stored with our database provider, Supabase.
Location, notifications and calendar
Location is used on your device to show distances and "Near me"; we don't store it on our servers. Notifications are only sent if you allow them. If you're signed in on the iPhone app and allow notifications, we keep your phone's notification address (a token from Apple) and your notification choices so we can send the alerts you picked. "Add to calendar" hands an event to your calendar; the app can't read your calendar.
Reports, suggestions and feedback
When you report a listing, suggest a place or send feedback, we keep what you wrote, which listing it's about, whether it came from the website or the app, and your email if you add it so we can reply. If you're signed in it's linked to your account until you delete the account.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the weekly issue we keep your email address on the list until you unsubscribe.
Website cookies and analytics
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. The site stores your lists and settings in your browser's local storage so they work without an account. The full list is on Cookies & local storage.
Who we share with
Only the services that run What's Nuevo: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website hosting) and Apple (delivering iPhone notifications). The website also loads fonts and map tiles from outside services; see Cookies & local storage. We don't share or sell your data to anyone else.
Your rights
You can download everything on your account in the app (You → Account & security). You can delete your account in the app, on the website, or by email; see Delete your account for how, and for what gets removed.
Children
What's Nuevo isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
